Buy & Hold

I often think of staying in one lane (as opposed to weaving in and out of them) as buying some shares and holding them. When I stay in one lane, I usually end up getting to my destination faster and less stressed at that. In the same manner, you end up better off with the buy & hold strategy (well, that's what most financial gurus say) and less stressed too as you don't need to monitor the market as closely as you would if you day-traded. Yeah, I know... it's time to go home...

Object-Oriented Life

I wish Java had an enumeration type. :(

Object-oriented languages are usually favored for reflecting real life. But you know what, I just found one amusing difference between Java and real life (have not had time to check whether this is true with C++ too). Two objects of the same class can access each other's private data members. Yikes! In real life, two human beings cannot. Well, at least they should not. But they actually can if they wanted to. Let's not go there. ;) Okay then, I take it back. It is indeed very much like real life.

Don't thank me! It's not free!

I just remembered one... Yoohoo! Have you ever received those promotional mailings (whether postal or electronic) that say "Free Gift(s)"? Isn't it redundant? If they're gifts, then they have to be free. I wouldn't want to have to pay for a gift, would you?

Very First Post (obviously)

This is my very first post so I guess it has to say what purpose this blogger serves. It's really all about keeping up with the Joneses. My friends Roehl and Joelle have one so I thought I'd have one, too. Just kidding! I just thought it was pretty cool. I wish I had found it earlier. There had been so many times when a random thought or a sudden realization just sprang up and sometimes even brought along a new perspective, a new way of looking at things, at life. Some were real serious. Others were funny. Just the same, they're all gone. I never stopped to write them down. Now I will have to re-realize them. The good news is, I am now handy with Blogger, ready to immortalize them.

I dedicate this to my wonderful wife, Jing, and our adorable son, Jed. I love you both.
